2009 FIBArk Mountain Bike Race This inaugural race on Phase I of the newly constructed trails across the river from Downtown Salida will be held Sunday, June 21st at 11:00 a.m. This cross-country race will be a loop course beginning and ending at the F Street Bridge. Download the trail map or go to Salida Mountain trails website. The course is yet to be determined, but it’s going to good! Fees: $15 for adults, kids 16 and under are free. Awards for the top three male and female finishers in each category. Award ceremony will be held in Riverside Park following the races. The FIBark mountain bike race will be a great mix of gravel road climbs, rolling single track and technical single track descents. The pro/expert course breaks out like this: 0.00-1.25 smooth gravel road climb There's about 1000 feet of climbing per lap. Beginners will stay off the technical parts, sports are still being decided. |

2009 USA Wildwater National Championships Current plans are for the Sprint to be run through Upper and Lower Cottonwood on Thursday June 18th 22 miles East of Salida on Highway 50. The Classic will be held on Friday the 19th with the start at the Whitewater Park in downtown Salida. The Race will finish approximately 4 miles downstream below Bear Creek rapid. Race sites may be changed as dictated by water levels and weather. Check this page for updates. The Classic will start at 10 AM on river right just upstream from the boat ramp at the Salida Whitewater Park. A shuttle will return contestants to Salida BLM East at the completion of the race. A Wildwater Demo and Sprint will be conducted on Saturday June 20th. The USACK/FIBARK Open Wildwater Sprint through the Salida Whitewater Park will be held at Noon between the heats of the Slalom. The 20 to 30 minute Demo at 4 pm will be run by Jeremy Rogers to demonstrate the functionality of Wildwater boats. FIBArk will host the 2009 USA Wildwater National Championships as part of the 61st annual FIBArk White Water festival in Salida, Colorado June 18 through 21.
Registration for the Championships and staging for the Sprint will be at Bighorn RV Park in Coaldale 20 miles East of Salida. The park is on the Eastern edge of Coaldale on your left as you travel east on Highway 50. Registration opens at 7 AM and the race will start at 9:30 AM. A shuttle will be provided to return contestants to the launch site after both heats.
